Inanimate objects - Redwood’s supporting cast

Redwood is set in northern California’s emerging wine country, circa early 1900s. The physical setting easily creates visions of rolling, dew-covered hills that are often veiled in an opalescent mist. The orderly rows of green vines bursting with clumps of sumptuous grapes further evoke a sense of tranquility with a dash of mystery. The delicate and grand beauty of the Queen Anne-styled home of my characters should serve the same supporting role as the vineyard, but it doesn’t. It is impossible for it to do so. The architecturally distinct home with its signature turret room easily creates mystery. What goes on in the little round room? Who inhabits the room? What purpose does such an oddly shaped room serve? In the novel Redwood, readers will be given a glimpse into a room that is forbidden to the inhabitants of Redwood Manor Vineyard. The support role of the rosary in Redwood is important in a variety of ways and I shall tackle and discuss the rosary in a separate blog post. As for the other seemingly simple objects that influence my characters and the mystery surrounding Redwood, I will leave these for you to discover as you journey through the pages of Redwood.
